Preface

With each publication, which were made in the context of the reunions for the old "Rügenwalder- and Münder"-citizens in Heiligenhafen (near the island of Fehmarn/Germany), the interest in Pomerania grew with me.The narration of my father and the family research also followed by us brought me repeatedly with Pomerania in contact. Since I had to however determine that only incomplete and partially contradictory predicates showed each of these elaboration for itself developed with me soon the idea this nevertheless once to gather and standardise. In the autumn 1995 it was then so far, I gathered all me attainable documents, had to however again determine that these documents gave me still an incomplete picture of the "Amt Rügenwalde and Pomerania". The test literature over Pomerania in the book trade to acquire was rather modest. Sad is it if necessary, if one handles Pomerania in the standard works to German history only at the edge. Books of earlier time, of Pomeranian over Pomerania written, are no longer to be received. They're probably only the attendance of second-hand bookshops and remains purchasing over one of these factories. Now, this fact held me not to gather at least all me attainable data in a booklet. The consequence of my efforts shows however if necessary the image that young people can receive today from the "old Pomerania". In confusions of the wars much of pomeranian history and culture was lost. The numbers and data, which were shown in this booklet, are only as exactly as I found in the publications and elaboration found. The data, which were contradictory, I corrected them on the basis from general historic data. The contents of this booklet show the development of "Rügenwalde" in short information, which I inferred from different publications and elaboration.
