The Hansa Fountain
The Hemptenmacher Fountaine

Inaugurated
1920
of the sculptor Wilhelm Groß

In front the city hall of Rügenwalde ist the market fountain, from the family Hemptenmacher to the memory donated, rises a work of the sculptor Wilhelm Groß born in Schlawe/Pomerania, which became finished after the war 1920. From a storage basin from Mühlhausener limestone rises on an compact shank a second basin, which shows the figure of a sailor driven in copper. Four plaques at the storage basin show the establishment of the city 1312, a hanseatic Kogge, shipping, agriculture and goose breed in Rügenwalder county. The well is driven electrically and steps in the summer at Sunday noon and
otherwise at solemn opportunities into activity.
